MyNIC (.my Domain Registry) Sucks!
It has been long time i didn’t buy any .com.my domain name, due to the expensive pricing, and unfriendliness of domain management panel. Just recently, i found .my Domain Registry (formerly known as MyNIC) is having a promotion, thus i register a domain, and thinking to build a small shopping website to play around. Well, i’m expecting to come across a unfriendliness panel, to change the domain DNS server the my newly subscribed hosting. Then i realized that they had changed the panel. Thought it was a good start for me, but end up it is a nightmare for everyone.
In .my Domain Registry, you have 3-4 contacts, each of them have their own login. (Sounds stupid? That’s Malaysia product). So to change the DNS, i need to login with my Domain Technical contact, but i don’t have the password!!! OK, they provide us a link in the email to create the password. I clicked on the link, and reset it through that panel, but FAILED! It keeps saying either my password length or the username is incorrect.
Alright, i’m sure there is nothing wrong with the password length (i’m good in maths, so i know how to calculate the password length!), so i went to check the username with the provided link…… The username is correct! Alright, i request the username from the beginning, and then reset the password, which means i start over the process again!! Finally, i managed to gain the access to change the DNS. You know how long i had spent on it? 25 minutes!
Malaysia product is really untrustable…..
PS : Latest update, i still can’t login to the panel, it failed when i entered the contact code…. guess i will need to contact the .my domain reseller to get it solved.

Heck! Totally agree. I planned to transfer my domain during this weekend when the traffic is the lowest. Guess I can’t make it now. I’ve been through all the hassles of the blogger. Finally, I managed to login. However, when I click on the modify domain link and enter the registration code to search, it produced ‘No Record Found’. I’ve tried everything including using different browser thinking that the site might not be compatible with Firefox. It’s really frustrating. I spent the whole day figuring out how the mynic panel works and finally, I’ve to contact them. Well, have to wait for their reply again. I decided not to renew my .my domain after expiration. It’s so easy with Godaddy.com. Better get a .com domain only.

Every corporate is trying to move forward to paperless work environment. Mynic Berhad is moving backward — printing and faxing. REALLY sucks!

I was in the domain name industry last time, what i heard was, Mynic is engaging a company that lack of experience on domain name knowledge to upgrade and maintain their current system. End up, we all suffer with the current panel.

Glad to receive a reply Mynic after 5.30pm today although I was expecting a reply yesterday. The solution is simple, simply click on the search button without entering any details. Gosh! At least I can still transfer my domain during this weekend.
